Having recently purchased a home just above the Sepulveda pass nestled in the Santa Monica mountains, our client came to AAHA Studio looking to turn her hilltop home into a true entertainer’s dream.

In order to renovate the home to better fit their lifestyle, AAHA Studio re-imagined the main living spaces with elegantly crafted details that are both clean and sophisticated as well as simple for day-to-day use. Immediately upon entering, guests are greeted by a fully wood paneled entry vestibule which tucks a light-filled powder room behind an integrated paneled door and creates an inviting transition space that pulls guests into the living spaces beyond. An impressively open floor plan is highlighted by full-sized Fleetwood doors allowing a seamless flow from the indoor spaces to the outdoor terrace and pool. The kitchen boasts a 10-foot-long integrated dining table perched delicately off of the main island allowing for both an intimate dinner party and a lavish holiday spread. The palette is a muted mix of grays, blacks, and desaturated wood tones acting as a simple and timeless architectural backdrop for the client’s events.

An entirely new master suite was added to the west wing of the house with a luxurious en-suite bath, his and hers closets, and an 11-foot vaulted ceiling. A 44’ steel beam allows for a completely open, cantilevered corner with sliding Fleetwood doors that continue the flow of the master bedroom onto a partially covered private mahogany deck with a integrated fireplace and custom built-in infity edge spa to take advantage of the impressive hill and sunset views. The custom-built, oak master bed abuts a bespoke suede headboard and is flanked by two 10’ steel & glass Rimadesio “Stripe” doors. Hidden just behind these doors are the generous master bath and custom designed and tailored his & hers master closets. The master bath is draped in french, Blue de Savoie marble slabs punctuated by matte black Dornbracht plumbing fixtures, an asymmetrical freestanding bathtub, and tinted gray shower glass.
